Ian Fulgar
Principal Architect, Fulgar Architects
Bio
Ian Fulgar is the Principal Architect of Fulgar Architects, a Manila practice working across hotels, resorts, museums, township masterplans, and mixed-use developments. He graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Architecture and began his career in Singapore on large mixed-use developments before returning home to build a practice around metamodern design. His work treats architecture as an integration problem in which culture, climate, capital, and buildability merge into a single form. Much of it begins before the drawings, in feasibility, land strategy, and the commercial logic that determines what a site can carry. He approaches the building envelope as a commercial instrument, shaping how a project performs in the tropics, how it reads to a market, and how it holds value across decades of ownership. Ian writes a weekly property and design column for the Philippine Daily Inquirer and brings over twelve years of parallel experience in software technology into his design practice.
